Kelly “DJ Kels” Brown is a Chicago-born DJ, music producer, and performer whose dynamic sound and high-energy sets have made her a sought-after DJ across the United States. Kels began DJing while attending Jackson State University, where her passion for music and live entertainment took shape.
After graduating from JSU, Kels built a diverse professional background working in the front office for the NBA, NHL, and WNBA, as well as within the tech industry - experiences that helped shape her understanding of large-scale events and entertainment culture.
DJ Kels has served as an Official DJ for the WNBA and NBA, performed at major venues such as Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and opened for legendary artists Mary J. Blige and Nas. Her performances have taken her coast to coast, including events in Washington D.C., Chicago, Indianapolis, Dallas, New York City, Miami, New Jersey, Jackson (MS), Portland, and San Jose.
Professionally trained and certified as a DJ and Ableton Music Producer through Scratch DJ Academy in New York and Deckademics in Indianapolis, Kels has also worked behind the scenes producing music for the NBA, Jackson State University’s Marketing Department, and collaborating with JSU’s iconic marching band, The Sonic Boom of the South.
Her work extends into major cultural and sporting events including SXSW, the Women’s Big Ten College Basketball Tournament, the Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic at Prudential Center, and the Orange Blossom Classic at Hard Rock Stadium.
Committed to using music as a tool for impact, DJ Kels continues to focus on mentorship and community engagement, using technology, DJ culture, and music production to inspire and educate kids, teens, and college students.
